Morning all, we’ve been a bit quiet on the old Monday Mixtape front of late… soz for that… most DJs hibernate in January. Not ‘Our Man In Argentina’ though. Part #7 of our mixtape series beams straight from the city of Buenos Aires via Naive Melody main man Elliot – vinyl digger, heart throb, style icon and all round geezer (he told us to say that bit, it’s mostly true though, to be fair).
Elliot’s entitled it ‘a fight between two bald men over a comb’ and generally speaking the music’s Latin in orientation, we couldn’t say more than that though, so we’ll just republish the postcard he sent with it… you can take a gander at the tracklist below too. There’s also some ace images to accompany the mix courtesy of Tim Green – scroll down for them.
Dear Oi Polloi,
I miss gazing at your racks of fine cloth and shelves of shiny leather.
Unfortunately I forgot to bring a decent pair of chinos and I’m lacking a linen shirt… So I brave the climate of this continent most days in modest cut-offs and a simple cotton tee. I visit the local markets as often as possible, digging through piles of mumsy blouses and grandad vests and have found curious items of awe and beauty. It breaks my heart to find vinyl here so bent out of shape, as you can guess much of it is warping slowly in the hot sun. None the less I’ve acquired much new music, melodies from all over this continent and beyond. Here is a selection of sound and wonder.
